The UK chapter of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity has been charged with hazing, violating the university's Code of Student Conduct, said Associate Dean of Students Tony Blanton. The fraternity's international headquarters contacted the Office of Student Affairs Tuesday afternoon, saying they had received information about potential hazing "right then and there," Blanton said. Central Lakes College's (CLC) Sigma Delta chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association (Lambda Alpha Epsilon) brought home 20 trophies as the top entry in the Region 6 competition held in October in Duluth. Adviser Dave Stumpf competed in the professional division and captured five first place trophies and one second. Firsts were in criminal law, corrections, firearms, police administration, and LAE knowledge.

CANEY —Alyssa Whitman, the 18-year-old daughter of Caney city administrator Don Whitman, was appointed by the Caney City Council on Monday night to fill the unexpired term of a ward 3 council seat. For the first time in the history of Greeneville Moose Lodge No. 642, its conferral ritual staff, known as Volunteer Moose Legion 12/Greeneville 692, earned first place in Moose International's annual competition held Nov. 5-8 in Indianapolis, Ind. In addition, all members of the team placed in the top 10 of the individual awards with Hugh Shipley (Faith) winning a first-place honor and Paul Honea (Hope) taking a third-place trophy.
